It was the Summer of ‘89 in Topanga Canyon, California. Whitney Richman, a flourishing Yoga teacher, found herself becoming quick friends with one of her students, Jessica Devine. It wasn’t long before the two ladies, both lovers of Yoga and Eastern Philosophy, realized that both were studying in programs at prestigious beauty schools. As their friendship continued to blossom, along with their Yoga Practice, the two now best friends vowed to open a salon together when the Universe provided the means. Two years later, the opportunity arose for Whitney to subdivide her Yoga studio, which she did and quickly manifested a delightful space for her and Jessica to begin their salon craft. Initially, Whitney and Jessica’s customers were all just their yoga students, however word spread like kunda and before they could amply stretch, Jessica and Whitney were booked tight. Quickly outgrowing the Topanga Canyon studio space, the two ladies found space on the prestigious Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills and aptly named the Salon “Abundant” in homage and gratitude for their shared Yoga beginnings. Abundant Salon burst into New York City in 2014 and plans are in place for an expansion into Austin, Texas in 2017.
